Although the TLD is a country-specific domain ending, only a fraction of the registered domains are actually used by residents or companies of the Cocos Islands. Interested webmasters should therefore buy and register their desired domains as quickly as possible, because it is expected that the popularity of the domain will increase in the near future and thus the number of available Internet addresses will decline.

The number of registered .cc domains far exceeds the number of inhabitants (just under 600). Official facts about the number of registered domains are hard to find. The .cc domain does not appear in the top 30 most popular TLDs. Interest of large companies is not necessarily given to the .cc domains. However, Internet forums, service providers or providers of directory services rely on the .cc domain.
Interestingly, the extension .co.cc has since been banned from the Google index because of spamming and phishing. This extension also builds on the ccTLD .cc, but was supplemented by a South Korean company to the subdomain .co - this domain should be kept in any case. Better buy and register a conventional .cc domain that will not be penalised by search engines - opt for this domain and stand out from the competition with your creative content.
